RUDGATE BREWERY LAUNCHES NHS CHARITY BEER “NIGHTINGALE”
A Yorkshire Brewery is helping to raise a glass to say ”thank you” to our NHS workers. Rudgate Brewery, based between York and Harrogate, is launching “ Nightingale”, a brand new bottled beer and a percentage from each bottle sold will be donated to the NHS Charities Together.
Craig Lee, managing Director of Rudgate Brewery commented,
“I have numerous family and friends who work for the NHS and can see the massive pressure they are under. I wanted to do something to help. Brewing beer is what I do so why not produce a fantastic new beer to support our fantastic NHS”.
With 20p from every bottle sold being donated to charity, Craig, whose wife worked on the children’s ward at Leeds General Infirmary for over 20 years, hopes to raise a sizeable amount of money for the NHS.
Like many other breweries, the closure of pubs and restaurants has had a dramatic impact on their business.
Rudgate Brewery have seen a decline in sales over recent weeks as the vast majority of their beer is delivered through pubs. By reacting swiftly to the changing market, the Brewery has significantly increased its online and take-home sales, which has allowed the company to keep trading.
Craig said, “It has been a difficult few weeks and we don’t know when pubs will reopen. But we have looked at what we can do for the best, to keep brewing and to keep jobs. Despite these pressures, we wanted to something to show our support for the NHS.”
Nightingale is a 4.2% Golden ale. Fresh, light and balanced with floral and grapefruit aromas. The beer is available through Booths, Local Morrisons and selected Cooperative stores as well as direct from the Brewery.
